Can I apply for a credit card during a bankruptcy?

This question was sent to me recently from someone in Chatham .

Yes you can apply for credit, but if you are asking for credit over $500, you must declare that you are currently in bankruptcy. If you don't you are violating the bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy is meant to help you get a fresh start. I would encourage you to avoid credit until you are discharged.
